Community Programs Wiltwyck Chapter, NSDAR

American Battlefield Trust Exhibit
How were the lives of ordinary people affected by the events of the American Revolutionary War?

As tensions mounted across the Thirteen Colonies, the entire Revolutionary Generation was faced with a difficult choice: to pledge loyalty to the Patriot cause and the prospect of a new nation, or remain loyal to the King as subjects of the British Empire. How would you choose?

This free exhibit also includes a tour of sections of our colonial DAR House.

DAR Good Citizen Program and Scholarship Contest
Each year, the Wiltwyck Chapter, NSDAR, awards the DAR Good Citizen Program and Scholarship Contest. Area high schools nominate a member of the senior class who then writes a competitive essay. Prizes are awarded based on the senior's essay, academic record, activities, and recommendations. The first-place winner moves on for further consideration at state and national levels.

If you would like to participate, please contact the chapter.

Kingston Colonial Days
Each year, the City of Kingston, New York, commemorates the American Revolutionary War events of 1777. During the American Revolutionary War, the city of Kingston became New York’s first capital. In retaliation, the British sailed up the Hudson River and burned the city. Since most of the city’s men were fighting the British elsewhere, the city was abandoned. The British burned over 300 buildings. The Wiltwyck Chapter, NSDAR, supports this event by offering tours of their historic home.
